October 2026
Renewal: transforming the work of reflection and recovery into concrete action. Across all five sectors, we clear away what is obsolete, strengthen what remains, and build structures for what comes next. September asks what is worth preserving; October asks what we are ready to make of it.
September 2026
Recovery: returning to the ideas, histories, and relationships that have shaped our work, and finding new possibilities in what we have already created. It is a month of revisiting, reorganizing, and reimagining, preparing the ground for the next phase of each project.
August 2026
Recalibration: finishing existing commitments, reconsidering the scale of ambitious projects, and making room for their next iterations.
April 2026
Recognizing patterns—discovering familiar structures in unfamiliar places, from the branching of neurons to the symbolic systems that connect American Cyborg's projects.
February 2026
Reciprocity: the movement from observation to participation. Each sector considers a different form of exchange—between collaborators, artists and tools, living systems, artworks and audiences, and travelers and places.
January 2026
Attention: learning to observe before interpreting, documenting, exhibiting, or intervening. It establishes a natural beginning for the year's progression from attention in January to reciprocity in February and the uncanny in March.
December 2025
Dormancy: recognizing that inactivity is not the same as absence, and that rest, preservation, and unfinished work are essential parts of creative life. November gathers what the year has produced; December allows it to settle; January begins again by paying attention.
November 2025
Gathering: recognizing the value of fragments before they become finished works. Across all five sectors, we collect, preserve, and arrange the materials of our shared experience, preparing to discover new relationships among them.
